A generational story about families and the special place they live in, sharing love, loss, laughter and life. Based on the comic book “Here”; written by Richard McGuire. First published as a strip in the comic magazine “Raw”; in 1989, and expanded into a 300-page comic book in 2014. At one point in the film, Richard’s father names several towns early in the film that he claims are along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in fact they are all along Interstate 80. [from the trailer] Richard: You know, if you wanted, you could spend the rest of the night here.Margaret: I could spend the rest of my life here..
Concerto for Clarinet, pt
Features They Stooge to Conga (1943). 1 & 2 Written by Artie Shaw. Performed by Artie Shaw and His Band Courtesy of RCA Records Under an arrangement with Sony Music Entertainment. I saw the negative reviews and didn’t want to see this movie. But I went and saw it with my family and was pleasantly surprised.
The actors did a good job
It wasn’t one of the best movies of 2024, like The Robot. But this movie kept me hooked from start to finish, when I expected to be bored when I heard the concept of the movie. My biggest complaint is probably that some of the stories felt pretty empty and incomplete compared to the others. I wish there was more parity between the stories of the neighborhood residents in the different eras. And maybe it would have been nice if there was something more to connect them than just the setting.
I felt the visuals were excellent
Maybe I missed a lot because there’s a lot of detail in this movie. The story really caught my attention from the 1950s to the early 2000s. The last 10 years and the family in their 20s and 30s were particularly one-dimensional for me. I enjoyed the family in the early 1900s interested in aviation, as well as the clips before the house was built. The editing and transitions were very enjoyable and made up for the lack of camera angles and variety.
The story is not perfect
Then when the camera finally moved towards the end, there was something unexpected and magical about it. Overall, I thought it was solid and worth watching as it is a very different and interesting film. But I had a hard time faulting the execution in terms of direction and editing.
